Gretchen Digby, the Ingersoll Rand Manager of Sustainability and the Leader of the Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability, describes the genesis and the journey of sustainability at IR. In a two-part series, Gretchen outlines the training provided to the business, operational and functional leadership, and to all employees.  Employee engagement is a targeted focus at IR, through Green Teams, and reaches to employees in all activities. Lastly, Gretchen shares a very detailed description of the rating collection and reporting process, such as DJSI, and how information is effectively and constructively used within IR to increase accelerate sustainability awareness and communications inside and outside of IR, and to drive targeted activities and continuous improvement within IR.

Doug Pontsler, Vice President of EHS (as in Environmental, Health and Safety) and Operations Sustainability for Owens Corning.  In a two-part series, Doug describes the strategic planning, goals, and roles of leadership and the employees in driving sustainability progress and successes throughout Owens Corning.  Employee engagement is paramount at Owens Corning, encouraging the involvement of everyone.  Doug also discusses supporting structures and frameworks, metrics (footprints and handprints) and communications, both inside and outside of Owens Corning.  Many examples are provide to highlight new produce design, employee engagement, goals and creative partnerships to accelerate sustainability results.
